Our story
The founder of the Cherek’s KraulQuappen® brand is Reiner Cherek. Together with his wife Luba, he ran a swimming school in Frankfurt for over 40 years. He also worked on water rehabilitation and collaborated with Richard Kiphard – the creator of the physiotherapy concept.
Cherek advocated a holistic approach that, through small steps, develops children’s physical potential and strengthens their self-confidence. He compared a child’s ability to float in water to crawling, exploring limits, and pushing boundaries. He wanted to create aids that increase the sense of safety by providing an optimal balance point during water activities while simultaneously allowing children to foster their psychomotor skills freely and find joy in being in water from the earliest days of life.
This is how the prototype of the famous KraulQuappen® was created.

As a family-run company, we have been operating in the airtight inflatable products industry for over 44 years. In 1999, we produced the first batch of swim-floaties for the KraulQuappen® brand. Since then, we have continued this exceptional business relationship based on shared goals and trust.
Recently, we have co-created an entire group of collaborating brands – WATS Cherek’s KraulQuappen, WMDiving, and Aquafamily. Our portfolio includes diverse projects in the fields of water sports, entertainment, recreation, advertising, and art.
However, Cherek’s swim-floaties remain our flagship product.
